Floor Space Index
Definition
The ratio of total floor area of a building to the total area of the plot it sits on. Equivalent to FAR (Floor Area Ratio) in some states.
FSI is set by local development authorities and determines how much a builder can construct on a given plot. Higher FSI typically applies in metro centres and along transit corridors.
